Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the N39.3 billion Ughelli Otovwodo flyover project.
According to the governor, the project is a major milestone in his administration’s infrastructure renewal drive to open up urban and rural corridors for inclusive growth and development.
Performing the ground breaking ceremony, Governor Oborevwori describe Ughelli as a historic commercial and educational hub that has witnessed rapid population growth, noting that the Otovwodo junction which links to the popular East-West Road, has become notorious for gridlock, costing commuters several productive hours daily, hence the need for a flyover project.
The governor disclosed that the project is expected to be completed within 12 months stressing that the timeline is non negotiable due to its strategic importance.
The governor also mentioned that the sum of N6 billion has been earmarked for the construction of alternative routes to ease traffic congestion before the flyover completion.
After the ground breaking ceremony, the governor made a brief stop at the palace of the Ovie of Ughelli, HRM Wilson Oharisi III.
