Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa says Delta is presently collaborating with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and its neighbouring state Anambra for free flow of traffic at the Niger Bridge head and other flashpoints in the state

Governor Okowa made this disclosure at government House Asaba during a joint press briefing he had with the FRSC Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi which centred on traffic management throughout the festive period.

Christmas festivity is here once again when people from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria living outside the shores of Igbo land visit their various villages in their numbers for what could be better described as family re-union.

The annual movement of the Igbos down to the East through the Asaba end of the Niger bridgehead is a nightmare for families and other road users due to heavy traffic that usually stretches from the Delta end of the highway, across the bridge and down to the commercial city of Onitsha.

Just like every other year, Governor Okowa receives the FRSC Corps Marshal in Delta held closed door session with the view to solving the hydra headed traffic problem in the areas most especially the Niger bridge end.

Boboye lauded the efforts of the Delta state government led by SSG Patrick Ukah in deploying logistics for prompt evacuation of broken down vehicles.

Other resolutions reached were that FRSC should man all the major junctions and a promise that no one would sleep on the road.
