Delta state governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the current economic indices in the country which takes a negative toll on virtually every segment of activities prompts his administration to review cost of some ongoing projects in the state.
Governor Okowa who made this disclosure after inspecting ongoing construction of Isheagu-Ewulu Road and Bridge in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state explained that the inflation and rising cost of construction materials made review of the contracts inevitable.

The Construction of Isheagu-Ewulu Road and Bridge awarded in May 2021 form part of the projects that had its contract reviewed from its original cost of over 2billion naira to 3billion 485m naira due to inflation and high cost of materials.
Governor Okowa who was conducted round the project by the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads) said the review was to ensure that the contractors do not leave sites. He added that the situation has distorted the state budget which is currently undergoing realignment.
Over the years, the agrarian people of Isheagu and their neighbour Ewulu also an Agrarian community could only visit each other with the help of canoes or through a makeshift wooden bridge expected to be replaced with amother one under construction.
Governor Okowa also made a stopover at the ongoing sector C1 of the Ughelli-Asaba road by Obo River where the contractor promised to deliver the project by October while the road he said would be ready by December 2022.
