The sudden rise of kidnap cases in some parts of Delta State and the South-south region has reawakened calls on government and security agencies to step up strategies in protecting the lives of the citizens.

Some residents who spoke to AIT in Warri, Warri-south Local Government Area of Delta State decried the new wave of insecurity despite several government assurances of tackling terrorism and other crimes.

Bayelsa based journalist, Julius Osahon was kidnapped on Monday march 28 2022, on his way to Warri, along Evwerni axis in Ughelli north local government area of Delta State.

This is one of the most recent cases of incessant kidnappings in Delta.

The ugly development has reawakened calls for urgent measures from both government and security agencies to stem the tide of kidnappings.

Despite efforts by the State Police Command to ensure a crime free society, some residents in Delta State still believe that government’s poor creation of jobs was contributory to the growing spate of kidnappings.

Residents now live in fear over what the future holds for every individual living in the State and the country at large.
