Aggrieved youths from the oil-producing Ogulagha Community in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, have reportedly shut down the Forcados Terminal belonging to the Shell Petroleum and Development Company SPDC.

Ait.live gathered that the Forcados terminal was shut down at the early hours of today, Friday, September 3, 2021, following a strong protest over the nonchalant attitude of the SPDC towards their plights.

The President of the Youth in the Ogulagha community, ThankGod Iyoragba, who confirmed the development, disclosed that the main entrance to the Forcados Terminal was blocked and locked by the aggrieved youths.

Iyoragba alleged that SPDC had been insensitive to their plight, particularly over the issues of some community workers allegedly sacked in 2020 and the payment of outstanding salaries owed the said workers.

He said that SPDC has been evading meetings with the Ogulagha community Executives, to table the issues concerning deprivation of community workers whom he said, were purportedly kicked out under the guise of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All efforts to get comments from the SPDC’s spokesman, Michael Adande, proved abortive, as he did not respond to the text messages or picked Calls as at the time of this report.
