Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, says 30 years after the creation of the  state, the people are more united than ever before.

Governor Okowa who said this at an interactive session held in Asaba as part of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Delta sSate’s creation also expressed satisfaction that the scepticism of the past had given way to belief in a more united Delta.

The Governor pointed out that the ethnic plurality of Delta State and initial pull- him-down syndrome by people who felt shortchanged in the scheme of things raised  doubts about the future of Delta State.

He said he is glad those  fears are gone as the people of the state see themselves as one, with a shared destiny  brought together by fate.

Governor Okowa explained that the essence of the forum is to create a platform for the people to reflect on the last 30 years, share their experiences, and chart a new course for the future.

On the economy, the Governor insisted that the 3% allocated to host communities from the operating cost of the oil companies is inadequate.
