Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege has emerged unopposed at the All Progressives Congress Governorship Primary, held at the Federal College of Education Technical, Asaba.
He won with 1,190 votes of the 1,235 accredited delegates.
Before the commencement of accreditation and voting, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Udoh Tom, explained that despite being the sole governorship candidate, the law makes it mandatory that physical voting must take place, and at the same time monitored by the INEC officials.
The party Returning Officer, Oyibo Nwaneri, officially declared Omo-Agege winner, having polled the majority of the vote cast.
Fielding questions from journalists, the Deputy Senate President, said APC in Delta State is determined to wrestle power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP, while the success of the primary was attributed to months of consultation and peacebuilding among aggrieved members of the party in the state.
He concluded that the choice is now left for the people of Delta State to check if they are better off with the present government, an assessment he said, will guide their voting pattern, come 2023.
