The Defence Headquarters says the military will in conjunction with other security agencies, intensify efforts to locate and bring to justice those responsible for the dastardly attack on Woro and neighbouring communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and all terrorists across the country.
In a statement signed by the Director Defence Information Major General SAMAILA UBA , the Defence Headquarters also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all Nigerians and called for enhanced cooperation between citizens and security agencies to protect communities, individual freedoms, and the nation’s democratic ideals.
The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has reiterated that national unity and resilience are Nigeria’s greatest weapons against terrorism and extremism.
According to the military, the people of Woro and surrounding communities demonstrated remarkable courage by standing firm against violent coercion and refusing to abandon their way of life and constitutional values, despite persistent threats from extremist groups.
The statement further recalled that terrorists had earlier entered Woro village requesting permission to conduct a preaching and indoctrination session, which was outrightly rejected by the villagers.

Following the rejection, the military was informed and promptly deployed troops to secure the area through robust patrols, surveillance, and other security measures for about two weeks.
However, the terrorists later returned and carried out deadly attacks on innocent citizens in a deliberate attempt to terrorise the community and surrounding areas.
The Defence Headquarters has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith in the Constitution, their personal beliefs, and the shared values that bind the nation together.
It also called on all citizens, regardless of ethnic, religious, or regional identity, to resist ideological indoctrination by violent extremist groups who seek to impose distorted beliefs through terror and intimidation.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria also mourned with the families of those who lost loved ones in these and similar brutal attacks on defenceless citizens who were defending community values and freedom across Nigeria.
