A former Deputy Inspector General who challenged his forced retirement in August 2023, Moses Jitoboh has been reinstated to his position by the National Industrial Court.
Jituboh will however not be able to resume in the post despite the verdict as seventeen days ago he passed on aged 54.
Jituboh, was a former Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of ICT, as well as Research and Development, and was compulsorily retired by the Police Service Commission two months after the current Inspectior Geneeral of Police, Kayode Egbetokun was appointed in acting capacity by then new president, Bola Tinubu.
Jituboh, who was a chief Security officer to former president Goodluck Jonathan, challenged his compulsory retirement by filing a suit at the National Industrial Court saying he was yet to attain the mandatory retirement age of 35 years in service nor reached the age of 60, retirement and as such his exit was wrongful, unconstitutional, and unlawful.
He sought an order of the court directing the PSC to pay the sum of ₦500million only as general damages for the unwarranted embarrassment caused by the purported termination of his employment as he had been portrayed to be a disloyal officer.
He had been prompted to the DIG rank in Febrauary 2021 and was an AIG in charge of Border Patrol and was once a Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command.
He joined the Police in June 1994 as a member of the Assistant Superintendent Course.
