The Nigerian Government has invoked the “no work, no pay” policy against Resident Doctors currently on a seven-day nationwide warning strike, stating that they will not receive salaries for the duration of their industrial action.
This decision was communicated in a statement signed by Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ado Bako.
According to the statement, the measure is not intended to undermine the legitimate concerns of the medical professionals but rather to ensure that essential healthcare services remain uninterrupted for the benefit of the public.
The government has urged all Resident Doctors to return to the negotiation table to collaboratively seek lasting solutions to the challenges facing the healthcare sector.
