Drug Abuse: NDLEA, NGO campaign against substance consumption In Schools

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and a Minna based Non-Governmental organisation have agreed to take the campaign against substance consumption to secondary schools in Niger State.

The campaign is aimed at discouraging students in secondary schools from involving themselves in forming peer groups, that will influence them into substance consumption.

According to research by the Department of Counseling Psychology, of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, shows that more than one million, six hundred thousand students of higher institutions across Nigeria are into substance consumption at various degrees.

According to researchers, some of the factors which led to such a high number of young Nigerians into substance consumption include availability and affordability.

The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in Niger State, explains that his command will ensure it takes the campaign to all secondary schools in Niger State.

Some Individuals who have been campaigning against substance consumption stressed that they will continue to spread the message on the effect of substance consumption.

Drug abuse and substance consumption campaign can be successful, once the targeted persons understand and work with the message.
