The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says it has busted a new method employed by drug dealers in concealing substances when it intercepted 72 kilograms of cannabis Sativa and 183 bottles of cough syrup with codeine, in the state.
The Commander of the Agency, Mohammed Bashir who disclosed this while displaying the exhibits says, 100 neatly packaged substances were concealed in a drum, wrapped like a bale of second-hand clothing in a vehicle conveying scrap metal.
According to Bashir, a large quantity of the cannabis Sativa was intercepted at an illegal motor park, around Danmarke Village in Mani Local Government Area, as a result of the eagle eyes and professionalism of the officers and men on patrol.

According to him, the exhibits were concealed in a drum, wrapped like second-hand clothing bales, in a vehicle conveying scrap metal from Lagos.
The Katsina NDLEA boss further says the command has also intercepted and seized 183 bottles of cough syrup with codeine, being neatly concealed to beat security agencies, conveyed from Zaria to Katsina.
Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the exhibits and are currently under investigation.
He restates his command’s readiness to rid the state of drug abuse, and reduce the supply and demand of illicit drugs, especially as the 2023 Elections draw closer.
