The need for robust and effective interagency synergy and collaboration have been stressed as the only way to win the war against crime and criminality in the country.

Katsina State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Muhammed Ibrahim, made the call during a seminar on the role of law enforcement officers in substance abuse prevention, and inter-agency synergy and cooperation, as part of activities, to mark the 2022 UN International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The seminar which drew participants from all the military, paramilitary and other law enforcement agencies, was aimed at charting a way forward, on the effective and efficient need for synergy.

The Katsina State Commander of the NDLEA, Muhammed Ibrahim, said if the criminal elements in the country synergize while carrying out coordinated attacks, nothing stops law enforcement agencies to do so and overpower them.

He took the participants through different ways of drug concealment, how to achieve drug reduction and demand, as well as ways to achieve a drug-free society.

The Katsina Customs Area Comptroller, Dalha Wada, in his presentation titled, The Importance Of Synergy Among Security Operatives In Katsina, For Effective Coordinated Border Management, said the time has come for collaborative efforts, rather than outsmarting one another.

He added that with the seminar, periodic joint meetings should be encouraged, to achieve the desired result going forward.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Drugs, Narcotics and Human Trafficking, Hamza Borodo, said the state government has the political will to ensure drug abuse is brought to a standstill, with the recent inauguration of the State Drug Control Committee, by Governor Aminu Masari.

According to him, the committee will see to the fact that every aspect of life is given a touch, to curtail the menace and proliferation of drug trafficking in the state.
