The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, has proposed that communities be equipped with arms to serve as the first line of defence against attacks, provided they receive necessary approval and guidance.

Ajayi made this statement in Abuja at the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS). He emphasized the need for security agencies to focus on addressing complex threats

This approach according to DSS D-G, aims to mobilize stakeholders to tackle insecurity in Nigeria through practical means.
