The Department of State Security, DSS, has invited the National President of the Nigeria Youth Union, NYU, Chinoso Obas, alongside other youth leaders involved in the plan to disrupt activities at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by way of a planned protest.

Ait.live gathered that youth groups comprising of Nigeria Youth Union, NYU, National Association of Nigerian Students, NAN, National Association of Polytechnic Students, NAPS, National Association of Colleges of Education Students, NACES, Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, Northern Youths Initiative for Peace and Good Governance, had planned their action on Wednesday to raise global awareness on the deplorable state of Primary Healthcare Centres in Nigeria but the DSS invitation has put paid to those plans.

Organisers of the planned protest told ait.live that their anger is over what they described as the lukewarm attitude being shown by the relevant authorities, particularly the leadership of Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, and Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, to their demand for more efficient Primary Healthcare Centres in Nigeria.

Before honouring the invitation, the National President of NYU confirmed he was invited by the DSS and he was expected to be at their headquarters on Wednesday.

In February, hundreds of youths shut the headquarters of the NGF, for a few hours also took their protest to the headquarters of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria a few weeks later over the same issue.

Over 1,000 potential protesters have already gathered in Abuja to participate in the demonstration.
