Authorities in Quaan-Pan Local Government Council of Plateau State, have imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in Namu town and its environs.

The curfew is with immediate effect, following Thursday evening’s attack on the Senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly, Professor Nora Dadu’ut and 14 Journalists.

The Senator and the journalists escaped death by whiskers, when their convoy ran into an angry mob in Namu community, in Quaan-pan Local Government Area.

The senator had finished commissioning an ICT Centre/e-Library in the community, which is part of her local government area when the incident occurred.

Sources said that the angry youths who also burnt down the vehicle of the NUJ Plateau State Council, the pilot vehicle belonging to the Senator, were said to be protesting the arrest of 4 members of the community.

A statement signed by Gideon Dashe, Secretary of the Quaan-pan Local Government Council, said that the citizens of the area are expected to remain indoors until further notice, while security operatives have been mandated to take charge of the town.

At the time of filing this report, tension was said to be mounting in the other communities within the council area.
