Ease of Container Clearance In Kano Excites Customs As Dala Dry Port Begins Operation

The Nigeria Customs Service says the Dala inland dry Port in Kano has contributed in easing the bottlenecks associated with clearance of containers at the nation’s sea ports.

The Dala Inland Port has also significantly boosted the revenue profile of the zone.

Kano-Jigawa Area Comptroller, Dauda Chana who disclosed this after a stakeholders meeting at the command’s headquarters in Kano charged officers and men to key into the revenue drive of the Comptroller General of Customs.

Daudau Chana says the command under his watch is deploying friendly relationship tactics with border communities which contributes to the command’s success in addressing smuggling.

The customs Area Comptroller commended the comptroller general’s reforms that is having greater impact on the Customs operations.

With strict surveillance of borders within the area command, different seizures have been made, with a call on traders to either declare their goods appropriately or be ready to face the law when caught smuggling goods into the country.

The Dala inland dry port in Kano is a port of origin and destination, which sits on a large expanse of land, currently contributing to clearing of non-oil products going out and coming into Nigeria.
