The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, most Reverend Alfred Adewale Martins, has challenged the Nigeria government to work in sincerity for an end to Persistent Insecurity crisis and killings of Christians in the Country.
Speaking during the 2026 Chrism Mass in Lagos State, the Archbishop also admonished people to key into the hope of Victory that comes with the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ at Easter
The Chrism mass is a significant event in the holy week preceding Easter celebration.
It signifies the unity of the diocese in orthodox Churches, and a time when Priests renew their vows .
Oils used for the sick, the sacrament, Baptism, and confirmation are prepared during the Mass

The Catholic Archbishop, who never misses the opportunity to speak truth to power, challenged the Nigerian government on the continuous killing of Christians
He also urged the government to do more about the economic crisis to ameliorate the suffering of the masses.
