As Christians in Bayelsa state join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Governor Douye Diri, says the role played by the Christian community and its leaders in engendering peace and development in the state cannot be overemphasized.
Speaking at two separate events held at his country home in Sampou community and King of Glory Chapel in government house, Yenagoa in commemoration of the Easter celebration Governor Diri, also admonished Christians to emulate the examplary life of Jesus which is hinged on love, and sacrifice.
It is that time of the year when Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In Bayelsa state, the Governor is hosting christian leaders and Pastors from different denominations at his country home, Sampou as part of activities to celebrate the season.
In his message, Diri admonishes the Christian leaders to continue to pray and support his administration, noting that their prayers are pivotal to the peace and stability of the state.

Governor Diri was later joined by other political actors and Christian faithful at the King of Glory Chapel for the Easter Cantata, an event marked annually by the state government to celebrate the resurrected Christ.

In his sermon, Bishop Tamunu Obaze acknowledges the achievements of the governor but advises him not to be carried away by praise singers, who might be doing so for selfish reasons and not out of patriotism.
Highlights of the service are a dramatic piece on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and special renditions from different choirs including the Prosperity women choir.
