A video journalist attached to the Press Unit of Ebonyi State Government House, Uchenna Nwube, has been abducted by gunmen along the Aba – Okigwe – Enugu Expressway.
Nwube is a cameraman with the State owned Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC.
He was kidnapped on Wednesday evening, alongside some unspecified number of people that were travelling in his personal vehicle, on return trip from Aba to Abakaliki.
ait.live gathered that the victim has established contact with about three journalists in Ebonyi state, through his telephone.

Nwude reportedly told those he reached on phone in separate calls that his abductors are demanding a 50 million Naira ransom for his release, with threats to kill him if he doesn’t cooperate.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, who confirmed the development says though the incident happened outside the jurisdiction of the Ebonyi State command, efforts are being made to find a way out for the victims.
Nwube’s abduction is the latest in the series of kidnappings for ransom along the ever busy Aba – Okigwe – Aba – Enugu Expressway, despite heavy presence of military checkpoints in the area.
Just a fortnight ago, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Samuel Kanu-Uche and other top church officials travelling with him fell victim, for which a 100 million Naira ransom was allegedly paid to secure their release.
