Ogwuma Edda in Umunna Community of Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state experienced two separate devastating landslides some weeks ago, leading to the displacement of hundreds of natives and residents of the area.
The Governor’s latest visit was to inspect efforts made to clear the road already cut off as a result of the natural disaster.
The Governor also used the opportunity to tour the community, after which he addressed the residents.
He told them that it has become imperative to have some of them resettled elsewhere, to save their lives and property, and well as give room for remedial work on the road.
For the natives, moving away from their ancestral home is a difficult choice they are willing to take.
Landslides have been happening in the same area since 2004 with no concrete effort taken to permanently address the situation.
