Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, says plans are ongoing for the construction of three additional flyovers in the capital, Abakaliki.
Governor Umahi who disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony of a 500 metre twin flyover at the Hausa Quarters Junction, along the Afikpo expressway said the essence of building flyover is to save lives, in addition to enhancing the aesthetics of the state.

Also part of the groundbreaking of the flyover was Bishop Nnachi Okoro, who will be retiring on Thursday, after 43 years as the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese.

Governor Umahi explained that the project will be named after the retiring Bishop in recognition of his contributions to the development of the state.
The Governor said the construction of the project will last a maximum of nine months, at the cost of about 1.4 billion naira.
Aside from the flyover at the Hausa Quarters junction, three more are to be constructed at Vanco, Waterworks, and the new Timber junctions. The Governor said this became necessary in view of the present and foreseeable traffic problems on these roads.
