Ebonyi Govt. Flags Off August Meeting, Pledges Commitment To Women Empowerment

Assurances of gender equality, political and economic empowerment of women, as well as family well beings, reechoed at the 2024 August meeting in Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria

The Ebonyi State Government says the present administration will continue to empower women in political positions and implement sustainable household economic programmes to assist them become self-reliant and carter for the families in promoting a virile society.

Wife of State Governor, Uzoamka Nwifuru, was speaking on the theme “A Wise Woman Builds Her Home”, at the annual August meeting flag off event in Abakaliki, the State capital.

Mrs Nwifuru noted that the theme of the 2024 August meeting is significant in reflecting on the strides women achieve in society development, as well as challenges facing the women fold in the State, while encouraging them to always remain industrious and supportive of their families.

“This present administration, led by my husband, is gender sensitive, supporting women in all fronts, we just have to be firm, focused and committed in our personal and collective assignments to prove ourselves capable of making significant change in our society,” the Ebonyi State Governor’s wife stated.

Some other women who spoke at the event, shed light on the high level of moral decadence in the society, reminding women to always uphold good values and culture at home.

Thousands of youths and women received various economic and skill empowerment equipment, agricultural Inputs, cash grants, among others.
