Ebonyi NLC Suspends One-Week Warning Strike

The Ebonyi State Executive Council of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has suspended the one-week warning strike embarked upon to draw State Government attention over Non-compliance to full implementation of Minimum wage.

The Leadership of NLC in the State gave the notice of suspension after meeting and having reviewed the one-week warning strike that ended on Sunday 8th of December 2024

The State Executives of the Union, in a statement made available to Journalists says, the Ebonyi State Government has shown strong commitment on the negotiation table, having invited and consistently involved them in a long stretch of negotiating meetings since Saturday 7th December, 2024.

The Statement says, that government has shown the desire to sign an agreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC after verifiable facts was presented before it.

The Statement further States that the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, appealed for the table used in the payment of the October and November 2024 salaries be accepted by the NLC pending a review that will be backed by a financial standing of the State as the Governor assures to continue to use his goodwill to better the lots of Ebonyi workers.

The Statement while thanking the workers of Ebonyi State for show of commitment and solidarity during the period of the One-week warning strike, unanimously resolved the strike be suspended and workers resume duties while further engagements to better the welfare of Ebonyi workers in line with the new minimum wage act continue.
