The Police in Ebonyi State say it is holding one suspect in connection with the brutal attack on Amagu Nkalaha community last Sunday where no fewer than 15 persons were killed and several buildings razed.

A Press statement on Wednesday by Command spokesman, SP Joshua Ukandu says the Tactical team dispatched to the area by the State Commissioner of Police Adaku Uche-Anya, with the assistance of the villagers, intercepted the suspect at the border between Nkalaha and Eha-amafu, as he attempted to flee the troubled community.

The suspect, identified by the Police as Maduabuchi Chimaobi Ebeh, is thought to be the same person seen being interrogated in a 3 minutes 22 seconds viral video on the social media.

The Police statement collaborates the content of the viral video as the suspect is overheard mentioning names of some persons alleged to be involved in the Ebonyi community attack.

Those named by the suspect were; Nwa Mummy, Igbudu, Diamond, Ife and Junior.

The Police said it’s operatives acted on the lead provided by the suspect, and stormed the hideout of the hoodlums responsible for the attack.

The statement further said the suspected assiliants fled the scene before security agents arrived, who reportedly recovered; three locally made single-barreled guns, one uniform suspected to be a Police uniform, a pair of jungle boot, as well as a pair of Army camouflage shorts and a pair of combat trousers.

The Ebonyi Police Command Press statement explained that operatives are actively pursuing and closing-in on the other fleeing suspects, while encouraging anyone with useful information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects behind the Nkalaha community mayhem to report to the nearest Police station.
