As the June 30 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to end the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise draws closer, some eligible voters in Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria may not have the opportunity to have their names on the register.
This may be due to an upsurge in the number of prospective registrants, but with very minimal facilities to accommodate the growing numbers.

ait.live investigations in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital reveal that personnel of the electoral body conducting the exercise are overstretched with not enough enrolment machines to handle the last minute rush being experienced.
At the Abakaliki Local Government Council headquarters in Nkaliki, residents are expressing their disappointments over the difficulty in getting registered after spending several days on long queues.
At the Nkaliki centre where only one enrolment machine was being used, tens of prospective registrants stood under the scorching sun, complaining of the rigours being faced to get registered, describing such as a poor public relations for INEC.
They urged the election management body to increase the man power and machines at the various centres for ease of the exercise.
There are also allegations of unwholesome dealings involving some INEC officials and high profile persons in the conduct of the voters registration exercise.
As at the time of this report, INEC in Ebonyi State was not forthcoming with comments on the situation as the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chukwuemeka Chukwu was said to be in Abuja for a meeting.
