Nasarawa State Govt. begins payment of gratuity backlog from 1999 to 2010

Nasarawa State Government has commenced the payment of outstanding gratuity for retirees from 1999 to 2010 at both local and state government levels.

Director General, Nasarawa state pension Bureau, Suleiman Nagogo conformed this at the headquarters of the bureau in lafia during the ongoing screening exercise ordered by the state governor Abdullahi sule for retirees.

The Nasarawa state government in February 2024 approved the sum of one billion naira to clear outstanding gratuity of 1200 retirees in the state.

The governor who during an assessment of the exercise promised that payment would soon begin is working the talk as payment has indeed commenced.

Suleiman Nagogo, Director General, Nasarawa State Pension Bureau who confirmed this explained that after the payment for retirees between 1999 to 2010, additional funds will be made available to clear that of retirees from 2011/ 2012.

The DG further clarified that retired permanent secretaries numbering 60 would receive 2 million naira each while those who are deceased will get 4 million naira as their entitlements.

The state pension bureau chief again dismissed claims that files belonging to some retirees were missing calling on anyone with such claim to come forward.
