ECWA demands increased security, end to corruption

The 5th Evangelical Church Winning All International Pastors conference has ended with a call for stronger collaboration between the church, government and security agencies to ensure a robust and rapid response for the protection of human lives and property.

In a communique jointly signed by the ECWA President Rev Stephen Baba Panya and the General Secretary Rev Yunusa Sabo Nmadu, the Church urges security agencies to improve in their response to distress calls, increased intelligence gathering and take proactive measures to nip in the bud imminent attacks on citizens.

The Conference lamented the increasing reckless looting and relooting of public funds at the detriment of dilapidated infrastructural basic amenities and called for a conscious effort to fight corruption, stressing that the church remains the only hope for a transformed nation.


It also advocated the need for the promotion of entrepreneurship by the government , Church and other religious bodies, as well as the business community to solve the increasing rate of youth unemployment and promote advancement in skills for future generation.

The International Pastors conference with theme “Christ in You, the Hope of Glory” taken from Colossians 1: 27, had over six thousand Pastors in attendance from from its 89 district Church Councils from across Nigeria.

The event is held every four years primarily for the purpose of accessing the spiritual growth of ECWA and stimulating the principle of team work amongst the pastors.

The Conference equally featured spiritual awakening messages and innovative methods of evangelism, bible study method capable of injecting fresh transformational ideas and medical outreach where over nine hundred pastors received medical attention including minor surgeries.
