The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has closed its case at the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, after failing to produce the 24 listed witnesses as stated when they opened their case before the Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led Panel.

The Tribunal however adjourned to March 3, 2025 for parties in the petition to adopt their final written addresses.

On Wednesday, the APC noted that they had 28 witnesses lined up to testify in defense of Okpebholo’s victory, but the Party could only present 4 of witnesses.

ait.live reports that 3 of the 4 witnesses admitted alleged incidents of over-voting during the September 2024 governorship election in the State. They also stated that the results from the Polling Units where over-voting was recorded were cancelled.

The Tribunal is hearing a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Okpebholo as the winner of the polls.

Ighodalo’s in his petition, alleged over voting, non-serialization of electoral materials and incorrect computation of results by INEC in favour of APC during the September 21 polls.
