Edo Gov. Okpebholo, others share in Christmas with Nigerians

Governor Monday Okpebholo, has extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of Edo state as Christians in Nigeria, and across the world me mark the birth of Jesus Christ.

In his 2025 Christmas message, released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebojele Patrick, Governor Okpebholo described the season as one of love, sacrifice, peace, and renewed hope. He urged Edo State people to reflect on the enduring values of selflessness, unity, and compassion symbolised by the birth of Christ.

The Governor noted that Christmas presents an opportunity for families and communities to come together in harmony, while also showing care for the less privileged and vulnerable in society. He called on residents to use the festive period to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and tolerance across religious and ethnic divides.

Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation to the people of Edo State for their continued support, cooperation, and patience as his administration works to deliver good governance and sustainable development across all sectors of the state.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the SHINE Agenda, which focuses on strengthening security, improving infrastructure, advancing healthcare and education, and expanding economic opportunities for all Edo State citizens, noting that his administration remains resolute in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every part of the state.

The Governor also urged residents to celebrate responsibly and observe safety measures during the festive season, while offering prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity in Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Okpebholo concluded by wishing Christians a joyful Christmas celebration and extending goodwill to all residents of the state, praying that the coming year brings renewed hope, greater achievements, and lasting peace.

In Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed, has also extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in the state and across the country, urging citizens to embrace peace, love, tolerance and unity.

In Christmas message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor thanked God for sparing lives to witness the 2025 yuletide.

Governor Mohammed described Christmas as a period that reflects the virtues of love, peace and honesty, calling on people of all faiths to live in harmony and promote peaceful coexistence.

He emphasised the need for unity and collective responsibility in building Bauchi State, while assuring residents of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, justice and fairness.

On security, the Governor reaffirmed his government’s resolve to protect lives and property, urging continued cooperation with security agencies to sustain peace across the state.

He also highlighted efforts aimed at economic growth and development, while assuring citizens that government programmes will reach all parts of the state before the end of his tenure in 2027.

Governor Mohammed wished Christians a joyful and peaceful Christmas celebration and prayed for continued peace and unity in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf, has extended warm felicitations to the Christian community in Kano State and across Nigeria on the celebration of the 2025 Christmas, describing the season as a period of love, sacrifice, unity and peaceful coexistence.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf said Christmas offers an important opportunity for reflection on the enduring values of peace, tolerance, compassion and selfless service to humanity, which he noted are essential for harmonious living in a diverse society like Kano State.

He urged Christians in the state to use the festive period to canvass for peace, unity and collective progress, while calling on all residents, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, to continue living together in mutual respect and understanding.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens and ensuring an atmosphere where everyone can freely practice his or her faith in peace.

Governor Yusuf also called on religious leaders to sustain the preaching of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, stressing that unity remains the strongest pillar for sustainable development in Kano State.

He wished Christians a joyful Christmas celebration and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year for all residents of the state.

The Governor further advised motorists to strictly observe traffic rules throughout the festive period and beyond to ensure safety on the roads.
