President of the Nigerian Senate and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has described the election victory of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as divine, believing it is meant to bring much-needed respite and development to the state.
Akpabio made this statement at his private residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during a meeting with Governor Okpebholo and his entourage. He emphasised that God had chosen Okpebholo to rewrite the history of Edo State and set it on a path of growth commending him for progress so far as Governor.

Governor Okpebholo, alongside his delegation, visited Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, to exchange ideas with President of the Senate Akpabio, and discuss ways to replicate the developmental strides achieved in Akwa Ibom during his tenure of Governor in Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo and his team have since returned to Edo State.
