The Edo State Government has assured residents of Ovia North East Local Government Area of adequate security against attacks from suspected herdsmen who are allegedly terrorising the communities in the council area.
The promise was made by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu when he received indigenes from five communities- Oshodin one and two, Areyen, Okokodo and Ofitebe In the Ovia North East.
The indigenes who were protesting the killings of some residents in the locality had with them the corpse of one of the deceased, saying three persons were confirmed dead and five others missing after an attack on them by suspected herdsmen on Wednesday.

The Deputy Governor appealed for calm and said the state Government will do all in its power to ensure their safety.
He said collaboration between relevant security agencies, communities and the State Government will help check the menace of killer herdsmen.
