Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially received the 24-page report and recommendations from the State Transition Committee ahead of his inauguration on Tuesday, which will mark the start of his tenure as the fifth executive governor in this democratic era.

The report, submitted by the committee’s chairman, Pius Odubu, raises concerns about the outgoing administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The 25-member transition committee, formed on October 14, 2024, spent three weeks engaging with the current Edo State government under Governor Obaseki. While presenting the report to Governor-elect, senator Monday Okpebholo in Benin City, the committee’s chairman, Pius Odubu, said the findings and recommendations would serve as a roadmap for the incoming administration.

The committee’s report critically assesses the outgoing government, highlighting issues such as recent employment practices and the investigation into the true ownership of significant state assets.

Shortly after receiving the report, Governor-elect Okpebholo expressed his gratitude to the committee members and assured them that he would give the findings the attention they deserve.

Edo APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe also spoke on the party’s preparations for the upcoming inauguration ceremony on November 12.

Senator Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa are set to be sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor, respectively, on November 12, 2024.
