Edo Governor, Okpebholo Inaugurates Committees On Boundary And Livestock Affairs

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has inaugurated the State Boundary Committee, tasking it with resolving boundary disputes and fostering peaceful coexistence among neighboring communities.

The committee is chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, and comprises notable individuals and the representative of the Oba of Benin.


The governor also inaugurated a separate committee on livestock management, aimed at enhancing food security and curbing clashes between farmers and herders across the state.

The inauguration of the Edo State Boundary Committee marks Governor Monday Okpebholo’s first executive assignment for the day.

The brief ceremony took place at the Government House exco chamber in Benin City.

While inaugurating the committee, Governor Okpebholo urged members to approach the task with diligence and a commitment to fairness, stressing the importance of clear boundary demarcation in fostering harmony and development.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the Deputy Governor and Chairman, Dennis Idahosa, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in them.

He assured that the committee would carry out its mandate with dedication and transparency.

Members of the Boundary Committee include: Samson Osagie, CP, Monday Agbonika, Paul Ohonbamu, Patrick Obahiagbon, and A representative of the Oba of Benin, among others.

In a related development, Governor Okpebholo also inaugurated the Livestock Committee, chaired by retired Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe.

The committee is tasked with enhancing food security and preventing conflicts between herders and farmers.

Both committees have been directed to commence work immediately.
