Logistics issues affected early commencement of election in some parts of Ikpoba Okha and Egor local govt areas of Edo state, leading to accreditation and voting beginning as late as 1pm.

Some INEC officials had to be conveyed in private vehicles from their registration area centres to polling units in Ogida market.

The election day witnessed heavy deployment of security operatives and thorough security checks by security joint teams in different parts of the state.

In Ikpoba-Okha which holds the largest concentration of voters, the situation was not different with other areas of Benin city.

But the downside was the delay in arrival of election materials.

But at Ugbekun primary school housing with over 25 polling units with more than 35,000 voting strength, the story was different as the exercise commenced earlier.

Some voters volunteered to direct others to the right polling units.

On the way to Egor, near three house junction, voters were seen being stopped from driving through the security checks despite display of their permanent voters cards.

When AIT News crew asked why, the police extended their aggressive approach on them

In ward 3, unit 29 in Egor, voting also commenced late.

In Okhoro, in Oredo Local Government Area, specifically polling unit 033, a suspected vote buyer with stacks of cash was seen being interrogated by the divisional police officer

Over 725 voters felt stranded at polling unit 3, ward 3 in Ogida market where voters were forced to use their personal vehicles to convey INEC officials and electoral materials to the venue.

At around 3pm, collation of results had commenced in George Idah primary school, one of those where voting began on time
