The Edo State Government has condemned, in strongest terms, the alleged rape and gruesome murder of a recent graduate of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, Adekolure Idowu Glory, in Iyowa Community, of Ovia North East Local Government Area, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Glory, aged 20, was said to have been on her way home from processing her clearance when she was tortured and raped to death by yet-to-be-identified persons, and her remains dropped close to her mother’s house.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, revealed that Governor Godwin Obaseki has called on the State Commissioner of Police to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly and unconscionable act within the next seven days.
Nehikhare also conveyed the deep felt condolences of the Governor to the family of the victim.
