The Edo State Government is set to begin maize cultivation on a 20-hectare plot of land as part of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s “Back to Farm” initiative.
The program is designed to boost food sufficiency and enhance agricultural productivity across the state.
Governor Okpebholo, who has pledged to lead the farming initiative from the front, stated that the project will span the three senatorial districts of the state.
At the Iguoriakhi Farm Settlement in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, the government is preparing to begin maize cultivation on 20 hectares of land. The project is currently in its final land preparation phase—ridging.

Representing Governor Okpebholo during an inspection of the site, the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Golden Ugbodo, reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to reviving agriculture and improving food production in Edo State.
A few weeks ago, Governor Okpebholo visited the Iguoriakhi Farm Settlement and assured Edo citizens that the “Back to Farm” initiative would significantly contribute to achieving food security in the state.
