Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has denounced street begging noting that it will no longer be tolerated in the State.
He made this known when he received Muslims at the Government House in Benin City as part of Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Governor who described the act as demeaning says decisive action will be taken against it soon.
Chief Imam of Benin City, Abdulfatah Enabulele also frowned at street begging, describing it as unislamic and urged the State Government to take decisive action to stop the menace.
Enabulele added that there was dignity in labour and urged able-bodied people who beg on the streets to desist from the act.
