The Nigeria hydrological services agency in its 2020 annual flood outlook predicted that about Twenty- eight states including Edo State are at risk of flooding.
Even though same alert was issued to these states to prepare for the flood last year, recent rainfall has left many parts of Edo state devastated by flood waters.
Many concerned citizens are wondering what the government is doing to manage this yearly flood.
Flooding has become a costly annual experience in most states in Nigeria. Edo state is one of the states predicted by the Nigeria hydrological service agency to be at risk of flooding as it experiences increased rainfall.
This has raised concern among citizens as to the readiness of government to manage the yearly flooding given the recent rainfall that left many parts of the state capital, Benin city devastated by flood water.

While residents continue to await government response for the pending flood, Edo state emergency management agency says flooding is a hazard that has to be managed It stresses government effort in constructing drainages and sensitizing residents on the dangers of flood.
To ensure the effective flow of flood water, the government has therefore called on citizens to desist from dumping refuse in drains and other waterways.
