Edo State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has felicitated the immediate past Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki, on his award as the Digital Governor of the Year, by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, in recognition of his administration’s technology reforms, which repositioned Edo as a frontier of digital innovation in Nigeria.

A statement signed by the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee, Anthony Aziegbemi, noted that Obaseki’s eight year tenure from 2016 to 2024 modernised governance and improved public service delivery, leveraging technology to drive multisectoral growth and development, and opening a new vista of opportunities for the people, especially youths.

The Chairman added that various sectors from education to health, infrastructure, economy, agriculture, and civil and public service, felt the impact of the former Governor’s bold and transformative reforms which are far-reaching, making the state a golden standard for digital governance and sustainable development in the country.

He said Godwin Obaseki will be remembered as a governor who made the hard choices at the most inauspicious time to better the lives of his people and engender economic prosperity, progress, and accelerated development in Edo State.

On behalf of the PDP, Anthony Aziegbemi expressed the pride of the party in having him as Governor when they did even as they celebrated his impact and lofty achievements.

He conveyed their wishes for Obaseki’s success in his future endeavours.
