Edo Police arrest five kidnappers, rescue victims in two communities

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command led by the Divisional Police Officer Iguobazua has arrested five suspected kidnappers at their hideout in Udo Community Area of Iguobazua, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to a press statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Kongtons Bello, the Suspects are twenty- five -year old Mohammed Ali , Abdullahi Umar ,thirty, Bello Tambaya; twenty four, Hassan Mohammad; twenty four and Adamu Bello; twenty six.

One Babuga whose surname was unknown was believed to be the principal suspect and currently on the run.

The police image maker in the statement says the suspects are linked with a kidnapping case reported to the command on the fourth of February this year assuring that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

In a related development, the Edo State Police Command has also rescued three kidnapped victims around Unomi Farm Land in Iddo Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, together with some other persons believed to have been kidnapped.

According to Kongtons Bello, the Edo State Police Command mobilised its men after credible information filtered out that hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers and bearing dangerous weapons were sighted around Unomi Farmland in Iddo Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State with some persons believed to have been kidnapped.

An exchange of gunfire ensued prompting the Kidnappers who had sustained various degrees of bullet wounds to abandon their victims unhurt.

The PPRO gave the names of the rescued victims as Marcellus Ekhayeme Igbafe Austine and Musa Aliu

The victims upon enquiry by the police revealed that they were kidnapped at Iyiku around the Jattu Area of Auchi since the eighth of February and have been reunited with their families after they were profiled.

The Commissioner of Police Edo state command CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu however assured law abiding citizens of the state of safety but advised them to provide useful information that will aid arrests of suspects.
