Two suspected fraudsters are in the custody of the Edo State police command for allegedly using fake bank alerts to obtain two iPhones from a phone seller in Benin City.
The two suspects who are from Aviama community in Ikpoba Okha local government area of the state were arrested last Friday after the shop owner failed to get authentic credit of over seven hundred thousand naira purchased goods in his account.
The suspects, twenty- four years old Kelvin Rich and nineteen years old Odiase Clinton were arrested on Friday by operatives of the command after a phone seller reported a fake bank alert of goods sold to them.
According to the police public relations officer Kontongs Bello, there had been series of complaints about the activities of syndicates who specialize in going into different stores and purchasing various items with fake bank alerts to defraud their victims.

This led to a manhunt for the suspects who were arrested in their hideout by operatives of the Anti Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the command.
The suspects who are of the same mother gave an account of what transpired that led to their arrest last week Friday.
Meanwhile, the acting Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye has assured law-abiding citizens of Edo state of police continuous effort to rid the state of criminal elements and their cohorts, however, solicited credible information from members of the public to enable them to carry out their tasks.
