The Edo State Police Command says all individuals connected to the viral school bullying incident that sparked widespread public concern have been identified, with those implicated now being charged to the Family Court in line with laws guiding juvenile justice and child protection.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the Command said the update follows a thorough and painstaking investigation into the incident which generated significant reactions across the state and beyond.
Preliminary findings reveal that the incident began on March 5, 2026, when two 14-year-old female students had a disagreement with another student over alleged offensive remarks about their late father, leading to heightened tension.
Police say the situation later escalated after school hours when the girls allegedly attacked the student and also confronted a parent who intervened, reportedly dragging her clothes before school authorities stepped in and expelled the girls for violent conduct.

The Command further disclosed that the incident took another dimension on March 6, when a male student, whose mother was reportedly assaulted, carried out a revenge attack on the victim, identified as a brother to the girls involved. The incident was recorded and circulated by another student, fueling public outrage.
In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate intensification of the Operation Safe Schools Initiative across secondary schools in Edo State, alongside the deployment of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices to drive advocacy, sensitisation, and behavioural reorientation among students and school administrators.
The Police Command has urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to strengthen supervision and moral guidance, while advising students to shun violence and adopt peaceful means of resolving conflicts.
The Command assured the public that necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice is served and to prevent a recurrence.
