The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG in charge of zone five Benin city, Sholla David, has confirmed the viral social media reports, about the escape of suspects in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department CID of the Edo State Command.

The AIG who was at the command headquarters on Monday, expressed the resolve of the IG of police Muhammed Adamu, to get to the root of what led to the incident.

Edo citizens had woke up on Saturday, with the viral publication of the escape of one hundred prisoners from the custody of the state criminal investigation department CID.

And This created fears on the people who had barely recovered from the prison break, that saw almost two thousand inmates escaped from two correctional facilities in the state.

The police too was worried about this which prompted the visit of the AIG zone five Sholla David, on the order of the IG of police to the state command, to assess the situation and he confirmed that ten suspects escaped from the CID facility and not one hundred as was reported on the social Media.

The AIG was visibly angry about the escape of the suspects who were under lock and key and its consequences, as free people , is however worried about how the suspects could have escaped from a post manned by ten policemen at 2.45am.

Follow up to this, the police public relations officer Chidi Nwabuzor however confirmed the rearrest of two of the suspects.
