Edo state Governor, Monday Okpebholo

The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to assist in bringing the immediate past governor, Godwin Obaseki, back to the State to answer to what he described as “vital questions” relating to alleged financial mismanagement and poor governance.

He made the appeal during the commissioning of a new fleet of agricultural machinery procured by the State government ahead of the next farming season.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio who led a delegation of members of the 10th Senate to Edo State for the inauguration of tractors, bulldozers, and other newly acquired agricultural equipment meant to boost food production in the coming planting season, was confronted with a strong request – assist Edo State to bring back former Governor Godwin Obaseki to account for his stewardship.

During the ceremony, Governor Okpebholo took the microphone and urged the Senate President to support the State in compelling the immediate past Governor Obaseki to provide answers on the management of Edo’s resources while in office.

The Governor said his administration remains committed to strengthening food security across the State, with the newly acquired machinery set to support farmers ahead of the next planting season.

In his remarks, Akpabio praised Governor Okpebholo’s performance within his first year in office, describing him as a unifier and urging Edo people to rally behind him in the State’s development efforts.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, also commended the governor’s achievements so far.

The Senate President later led the other dignitaries at the event to inaugurate the agricultural equipment.
