Former House Of Representatives member for Oredo Federal Constituency, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama scored the highest number of votes in Monday’s All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Primaries conducted for Edo South in South-South Nigeria.
Ogbeide-Ihama got a total number of 27,154 votes while his other two contenders, incumbent Senator, Neda Imasuen polled 13,580 votes and Osagie Ize-Iyamu had a total of 6,785 votes.
Urhokpota Hall, located in the heart of Benin City, serves as the central collation centre for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo South Senatorial District primary election.
Party faithful, supporters and election officials gathered as results from the 77 wards across the seven local government areas are presented and read out loud.
Chairman of the Edo State National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Muhammed Ajana, announces the final scores recorded by the three contestants, former federal lawmaker, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, incumbent Senator Neda Imasuen and former APC governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
An elated Ogbeide-Ihama expresses appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in him.
He also extends a hand of fellowship to his co-contestants, calling for unity and collective support for all APC candidates in 2027 general elections.
With the APC primary election now concluded, attention will shift to the next phase of political activities, as party supporters await the formal commencement of campaigns ahead of the general elections.
