A faction of the Labour Party (LP) led by Callistus Okafor, has thrown its weight behind Olumide Akpata, the Party’s candidate for Saturday, September 21, 2024 Edo State governorship election.

Okafor in a statement called on Edo residents to vote Labour Party (LP) on Saturday.

According to him, Labour Party is the only political party that has solutions to the challenges confronting citizens and residents of the Edo State.

He said the Party is “one indivisible entity” despite its internal crisis.

“The situation in the country and Edo State in particular calls for a massive shift from what we are used to doing, to a different phase,” Okafor said.

His endorsement Akpata is coming barely two days to the crucial poll.

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Party, Peter Obi and the Nenadi Usman led faction of the LP were with the governorship candidate in Benin city during the final campaign rally.

Only the Julius Abure led faction of the party has distanced itself from the Olumide Akpata candidacy.

Labour Party is one of the 3 leading political parties ahead of this Saturday’s off-cycle governorship poll in Edo State.
