Should a state of emergency be declared in Nigeria’s education sector? Well the Catholic Bishop of Idah diocese, Most Reverend Bishop Anthony Adaji thinks so. He jas called on president Bola Tinubu to declare a of State of emergency on what he refers to as the nation’s decaying education sector
Thousands of lay faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Idah joined bishop Anthony Adaji and his priests, to celebrate the 2025 chrism mass, a high mass which commemorates the institution of Catholic priesthood, where sacred oils are also Blessed as the priests renews their private vows before the bishop.
The Local ordinary Bishop Anthony Adaji, told these catholic faithful that Nigeria’s education sector deteriorated to a level requiring the declaration of a state of emergency.
Bishop Adaji added that he finds it scandalous that pupils still sit on the floor to learn in some schools in Kogi State despite huge budgetary allocation to the sector by the KOGI state government.
The Bishop therefore appealed to the Kogi State Government to return all missionary schools to their owners to ensure proper management and quality learning.
With the rise in cases of kidnapping of priests and lay people on the rise, Bishop Adaji urged the people to always pray for their priests who renewed their priestly vows at this mass of chrism.
