Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Directorate have confirmed the arrest of 127 suspected internet fraudsters in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.
According to a statement on the official X page of the Commission, the alleged internet fraudsters were arrested in an early morning sting operation at a “Yahoo Party” held simultaneously at Signature and Abah Clubs on Saturday, June 8, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The statement said credible intelligence showed that the alleged party was initially scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 but was later moved to Saturday to beat security and intelligence networks of the EFCC.
The Commission said the suspects have given useful information to investigators of the Directorate.
Items recovered from them include 10 exotic cars, phones, laptops, motor-cycle, wristwatches and many incriminating documents.

The statement concluded that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights and member representing Ondo East-West Federal Constituency, Abiola Makinde, has condemned the raid on some nightclubs and lounges in Akure, the Ondo State capital, in the early hours of Saturday.
Makinde, in a statement signed by his media aide, Moshood Alli, and made available to journalists on Saturday described the raid as invasion of privacy of innocent citizens of Nigeria.
According to him, the reports of raids leading to violations of personal dignity and privacy, such as the incident involving a former Big Brother Naija housemate, highlights the need for the EFCC to conduct operations with respect for the law and human decency.
Makinde said it is imperative that in the pursuit of justice, the EFCC adheres strictly to the principles of human rights.
He however urged the people to remain calm while this matter is investigated and resolved.
