Mambilla Power Project

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched investigation into $6 billion Mambilla Power Project after years of appropriation with nothing to show for it by the National Assembly.

The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu made this known when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Power to defend the 2023 budget.

The Minister said the Ministry has met with stakeholders and all issues of concern are currently been resolved, adding that the issue of litigation on the Mambilla power project has hampered the project.

The Chairman of the Committee on Power, Gabriel Suswan had raised concern over the Mambilla Power Project, pointing out that despite years of huge allocations for the project, it remains a mirage with nothing on ground .

He lamented that the long awaited Mambilla power project will not be able to commence operation before the end of the current administration.

The Minister of Power presented a budget of N250 billion for the Ministry.

The Senate subsequently summoned the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed to give explanation on new insertions in the budget of the Ministry of Power for the power project.
